a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge

how facial paths connect the whole body

what I love about fascia is how it helps to connect the whole body together. it’s so easy to separate out our different systems into individual parts and sometimes that’s helpful.

but a lot of times I think getting too specific on certain areas is what causes us to feel stuck, confused and like we’re going in circles to find a solution or relief.

for example, when I was experiencing 6/10 hip pain I zoomed in and did a ton of squats and butt workouts to make my hips “stronger”. this actually made my pain worse because I was missing how my spine, breath, feet and core were impacting my hip pain.

learning about the fascial system and how it’s organized throughout the entire body has helped me incorporate these other parts of me on a regular basis.

2 minute subtle shift…

here’s a way to start to see your body as whole, not just for the area that’s hurting.

  1. choose one ache or persistent pain you’re dealing with.
  2. locate that spot in one of blue paths here
  3. follow the fascia paths [highlighted in blue] to see what other parts of the body that achy spot is connected to

images are from Tom Myers book Anatomy Trains.

see you next week, Brooke ✌🏻

ps: what path does your persistent pain follow? do you see a connection to other parts of your body that could be part of the solution? reply and let me know what you think!

I don’t know if this is true but we’re going with it today… our fascia system really does operate the same way as the goldfish theory, only stretching to as big as the space it has. the situation is that we live a very ‘mid-range’ life:...

suburbanhippie.life a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge diy consistent movement for your fascia the first thought I originally had when hearing the importance of being consistent with movement for the health of my fascia was “I workout 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week, I’m consistent, I’m good”. however the more I learn about fascia the more I’m starting to see consistency in a new light. I recently was introduced to some math...
