week #3 - fascia facts friday 💌

suburbanhippie.life

a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge

what is the point of fascia?

the point of fascia is to connect + support us in order to have a functional structure and a home that allows all bodily systems to work together.

fascia is constantly repairing, rebuilding or removing to create the best home for our surroundings.

millions + millions of cells are adjusting in direct response to the requests [or demands 🙃] we put on ourselves.

the thing is, fascia doesn’t assess if these adjustments are helpful or a hinderance to us.

fascia’s only focus is to adapt itself in order to support us based on the input it is receiving.

2 minute subtle shift...

what kind of home is your fascia creating? think about the input your fascia is receiving + responding to in a typical day for yourself:

  • how much + what kind of movement are you doing?
  • what kind of postures are you in?
  • how much hydration are you getting?
  • how much mental stress are you processing?
  • what kind of foods are you eating?
  • how much + what kind of sleep are you getting?

if you feel like sharing I’d love to hear some of your answers to these questions. hit reply + let me know what you came up with.

see you next week, Brooke ✌🏻

f you wanna experience a super beneficial input that your fascia will love you might try an express myofascial release offered by yours truly 🥰

push, don't pull yourself we have a triangle on the bottom of each foot; from the heel to the ball of the big toe to the ball of the pinky toe and back down to the heel. this triangle is made up of the different arches [fascia + muscles + tendons] in our feet which are meant to flatten and arch with every single step. the responsiveness of our arches is what helps us walk forward with ease, especially on uneven surfaces, absorb shock from getting to our knees and low back and help keep us...

the mechanics of barefoot the beauty of walking on uneven surfaces is that it gives even more opportunity for our arches and fascial system to their job - if we’re using our feet as they’re designed. there’s a path of fascia called the deep front line that attaches at the toes to the inner thigh to the hips. when we push off with the ball of our big toe, at the end of each step, the deep front line is triggered. this collective gives us more power, balance hip stability and hip mobility. the...
