muscle pain vs myofascial tension? |
|
|
|
I’m going to be honest on this one…at the time of writing this, I’m not exactly sure how to tell the difference between muscle pain + myofascial tension…but stay with me.
the reading + research I’ve been doing on this topic makes me wonder if there’s really a way [or a reason why] to separate the different pains??
to me, it seems like separating them out is like trying to take the flour out of cookies after they’re baked.
- I can’t see the benefit of doing that because the cookies without flour aren’t cookies anymore.
- it’s seems next to impossible to do because of how mixed together everything is.
- it seems like a lot of effort that doesn’t help us get to the real result we’re looking for of eating cookies.
muscles aren’t functional without fascia and we can’t relieve muscle pain without incorporating the facia. at the end of the day we just want to feel better so why not incorporate myofascial routines into our lifestyle just as we do other health routines. they’re both necessary + both very impactful.
2 minute subtle shift...
a few easy myofascial routines to incorporate that can decrease pain
-
ensure proper hydration.
- drink water when your thirsty + stop ignoring those thirst sensations. get up and go get that water.
-
stop being so still.
- change your posture or move around, ideally, once every 40 mins.
-
listen to your body more than fighting it.
- when you feel pain think of this as a system wide warning that something needs to change. thank your body and see what’s the smallest thing you can adjust even if it’s just for 2 minutes 😉
see you next week, Brooke ✌🏻
if you wanna melt some tension away you might try an express myofascial release offered by yours truly 🥰
p.s. - I'm offering a February special on express sessions if your interested...get a free 'jaw melt' add-on with the purchase of my 'weekly reset bundle'

suburbanhippie.life a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge expansion - get big. take up space. have you ever heard of the goldfish theory? that a goldfish will only grow within the limits of its tank? I don’t know if this is true but we’re going with it today… our fascia system really does operate the same way as the goldfish theory, only stretching to as big as the space it has. the situation is that we live a very ‘mid-range’ life:...

suburbanhippie.life a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge diy consistent movement for your fascia the first thought I originally had when hearing the importance of being consistent with movement for the health of my fascia was “I workout 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week, I’m consistent, I’m good”. however the more I learn about fascia the more I’m starting to see consistency in a new light. I recently was introduced to some math...
