a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge

what causes our fascia to get stuck?

think of your fascia as the structural framing of your home, constantly shifting and reinforcing itself to keep you stable based on how you live.

your fascia is constantly adapting to support your lifestyle, essentially "mapping" itself to your daily movements, stress levels, nutrition, hydration and sleep.

when it feels stuck, it’s actually just trying to help by adding stability where it’s needed most—based on lifestyle - whether that's from an old injury, current hobbies your doing, mental stress you take on or long hours at a desk.

it isn’t getting stuck to be difficult. it’s weatherproofing your walls to protect you from the elements like stress, old injuries, or repetitive movement patterns.

2 minute subtle shift...

your fascia isn't broken or malfunctioning when it gets tight. it’s trying to be helpful by reinforcing the areas you use (or don't use) the most.

just for a week: notice one repetitive movement you do daily (like crossing your legs or how you hold your phone) and see what tiny adjustment you can make to let your fascia know you don’t want to be stuck in that shape lol!

maybe that’s as easy as switching sides or maybe you need some suggestions.

if you want my perspective on how you can adjust, feel free to respond to this email and ask me! I’d love to see if I can help.

see you next week, Brooke ✌🏻

expressMFR is a way to give your fascia the regular maintenance it needs, just like we do with our homes, to stay as comfortable + cozy as possible...

suburbanhippie.life a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge expansion - get big. take up space. have you ever heard of the goldfish theory? that a goldfish will only grow within the limits of its tank? I don’t know if this is true but we’re going with it today… our fascia system really does operate the same way as the goldfish theory, only stretching to as big as the space it has. the situation is that we live a very ‘mid-range’ life:...

suburbanhippie.life a weekly series to learn a bit about the body + a subtle shift to start to apply the new knowledge diy consistent movement for your fascia the first thought I originally had when hearing the importance of being consistent with movement for the health of my fascia was “I workout 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week, I’m consistent, I’m good”. however the more I learn about fascia the more I’m starting to see consistency in a new light. I recently was introduced to some math...
